I've started reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime.I'm only about a quarter of the way through and it seems great so far-the main character is an autistic boy. I'll keep you posted on how it is.

I had a great morning before work today: Ed and I wandered over to the Farmer's Market in East Van. We bought funny looking zucchini called Eight Ball zucchini and yummy baby potatoes. There was a table of amazing body creams and soaps (Kasandra's Soaps and Sundries). I would have bought some of their Mango body butter: smelled so good I would have eaten it, or one of their lavender soaps, but I hadn't planned ahead for money-everything is cash there.
It's funny how much more appetizing everything looks when its not withering under the milky flourescent lights of safeway, and presented in cute little wooden crates. Potatoes just look better in wooden crates!

I'm looking forward to seeing American Splendor when it comes out finally-it looks kind of quirky, and this one, and and of course this one.

I spent over an hour in Textile Clearance House today searching for the perfect pattern for a summer dress. I know, its a bit late for that, but that will just make me sew faster, then I got really into chuckling over the costume patterns, and thought it would be fun to dress in Civil War gear-just joking. I poked around in the fabrics for a while and found some obnoxiously pink flowery cotton for my dress. There was a lot of cozy looking cordouroy and some pretty Japanese style prints as well. I've been trying to distract myself from the creepy power outage news coverage. I wish I hadn't watched Terminator 3 the other day... SKYNET! If you're wondering why so many links in the last couple posts, I've just learned how to do them from Ed, so now they're fun.

I think I need a Gocco printer. Yes, I've decided it would make my life complete. It's a cute and fun looking little machine that has actually been around for about twenty years...it lets you print onto stuff like fabric, paper.

I just got back from an evening swim in the ocean, at Kits beach. I was the only one splashing around...it was like a kind of warm bath, Hawaii breeze and shimmery city lights all around me, waves the size of half of me. I could have stayed out there for a long time, it gets sort of meditative. Ed sat with me and played his Game Boy beside bongo drums and beach fires. I thought beach fires weren't allowed...then all of a sudden someone was tossing those crazy fire sticks.

Ha ha, I'm so lazy...I have a denim skirt that has been waistbandless for about three years now. I just don't want to go into waistband territory, so I got my Mom to put one on for me. That is my sewing style, do some, then get Mom to do the rest...oh I know, it's shamefull.
I'm listening to Cat Power right now, and contemplating lunch.
I was just looking at Kerri Smith's website www.kerrismith.com She has a cute little thing about Chinatown and all the treats you can find there. I don't need any convincing.
